Experiences of a Hare Krishna in Iraq

Wow…
..Iraq makes being a devotee easy at times, I must agree.  Fewer distractions,
any time while you are sitting around is a good time to chant, ample time to
read Srila Prabhupada’s books…
..But at the same time, I miss Devotee association, honoring Prasadm, going to
the Temple, etc., etc., etc.  I understand your point of view entirely.
As far as the billboard, Kali Yuga is truly terrible.  While in a hide site
a few days ago with one of our sniper teams, I watched 2 young Iraqi boys throw
stones at a dog, then stab it with sticks, until it lay limp and motionless.  I
was filled with anger.  I wanted to fire on them.  I chanted quietly and made
efforts to ignore my present situation, in this pitiful material existance.
In good news, I received a package from Iskcon Potomac today and I was
engulfed in joy.  It included some cookies which were bliss on my lips.  I had
half of one and then handed them out to everyone I passed, who would accept
one.  Thank you, from the very bottom of my heart; to everyone at Iskcon
Potomac.  I await the day when I can once again see all of you in the Temple.
Japa is going great.  I have given my “combat beads” to a friend of mine,
who has been attending the Tuesday BG classes at the Chapel.  I told him to
make no promises of chanting regularly, but to do it when he can feel the beads
tugging at the sinue of his heart.  He has chanted at least one round, every
day, for the past week.
Well wishes as always, Partha Prabhu.  Be safe, Brother.  I miss your
association.
Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama
Rama, Hare Hare!!!
